A Little Love Note to My Non-Binary Friends

You’re not broken. You’re amazingly brave.

Living as non-binary is one of the hardest things I deal with, especially as a devout father, husband, and active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.

Too often I have felt like my inability to rejoin the “mainstream” of gender roles means I’m permanently broken.

But today, while listening to “Trans Like Me” by CN Lester — I had a beautifully tender reminder from above that I’d like to share with anyone feeling out of place in a binary world…

Being non-binary doesn’t mean you’re broken.

It means you’re brave.

You’re brave enough to forge a difficult and unmarked path towards personal harmony.

You’re brave enough to accept and embrace the divine individuality endowed to you by loving Heavenly Parents.

You’re brave enough to perform your divine job responsibilities as a creator of your life and a defender of all love.

So while I wouldn’t voluntarily wish being non-binary on anyone, knowing the heartache and personal doubt it has caused, I wish we could all live in a world of non-binary-like human beings.

So for my fellow non-binary friends, seen and unseen, thank you for being you 🙏❤️🙏❤️

The difficulties you’ve endured and will endure are what make this world more loving, more inclusive, more like the home we all deserve.
